Artist Statement

My first bronze, “A Moments Rest” is a tongue-in-cheek look at the traditional nude through my introduction to figure sculpting sessions, and the surreal contradictory nature of the experience. With a utilitarian ponytail, naked, and sitting on hard rocks, our model contemplates being put on display in such an uncomfortable condition. With this piece I am attempting to lift the veil between the ideal on a pedestal and real life, finding amusement in the contrast.
