Artist Statement

We all have burdens to bear. Some burdens are of our own choosing, happily taken up. Some are foisted upon us. Some are ours to bear simply because the consequences of not doing so outweigh the alternatives. Even if we try to refuse, we simply end up trading one load for another, as refusal carries its own ramifications. We can try to escape, exchanging burdens at every opportunity, or we can shoulder the responsibility, pressing ever forward. Sometimes it can get to be too much, and we crack, or even break under the pressure. But sometimes, when it feels like we should break, we somehow manage to muster the fortitude to do what once seemed impossible.
