Artist Statement

Have you ever been surprised to learn something about yourself? If you know yourself, how is it that you can be surprised? We all have a way of thinking about ourselves, yet do not always pay attention to the details of who we really are and how we act. “Self-Reflection” examines the holes we have in our perceptions of ourselves, while simultaneously exploring how others may have a clearer view of parts of us we do not fully understand. The outsider is missing context and history, the individual is missing a detached perspective. I enjoy viewing this piece from differing angles while thinking through the complexity of self, and the perpetual depths remaining to be discovered.
