Artist Statement

A part of my “Intangible Remembrance” series, “Underneath” is about memory, both in general and specific. The specific memory that inspired this piece was from walking through a sea cave at low tide in New Zealand. The colors, smells, lighting, creatures (starfish, crabs, and mussels), and sounds were all amazing and very alien to me. I did my best to capture the feeling of this memory within this piece.
